This bench was my exploration
into the world of curves in furniture making. The entire
structure was made using bent lamination, but it could also
be constructed of solid wood. There are no 90° angles on
this bench. The turns in direction are therefore softened,
as in nature, reminiscent of trees and the splitting of
branches. Where two or more branches meet, soft curves blend
the two into one.
Selected for the
International Exhibition The Chair,
Juried by Sam Maloof, at the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, Massachusetts.
